| Nestled on twelve wooded acres, Deer
Creek Intermediate School welcomes ALL who enter to a very nurturing environment.
The School is on the grounds of the former St. John's School for
the Deaf next to Thomas More High School. From the
grounds that include our prairie, to the physical building itself, Deer Creek offers a
powerfully positive learning experience. There is a feeling of cooperativeness
here--one that facilitates an ease of problem solving through effective communications
among staff and students. The students are offered a wide variety of classes--both
core and extra curricular, and the teachers are given flexibility to make the classes
creative and exciting for their students. From the teachers' perspectives, the
strong sense of support among our colleagues is extended to our students. When asked what they like about Deer Creek, students respond that they
appreciate the up-to-date technology our school offers, the hands-on learning experiences
such as planting and working in the prairie, the fact that our school and grounds are so
clean and well kept, the fact that we have a pool and theater, and that our staff is very
knowledgeable and fun! A common thread that runs throughout the students and staff
is one of care and concern. Stop in for a visit. Our pride will be evident,
and we enjoy sharing what we have with others.
